There are several pharmacy schools in China. One is the Department of Pharmacy of the Hong Kong University. The people related to the School of Pharmacy of Hong Kong University share the passion to create a healthy society in common. Their aim is to discover and implement personalized and innovative medicine.
In 1992 the CUHK Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme started and is the only degree program in pharmacy in Hong Kong. The aim of this Bachelor of Pharmacy or BPharm course is training of graduates so they can function independently. They will function as professional providers of health care, who will be part of a health care team and will function in a better way. They will provide first class health-related care and pharmaceutical care to maintain good health of the citizens of Hong Kong. The first batch of B Pharm students had become registered pharmacists since 1996.
The Bachelor of Pharmacy Curriculum is like below:
First year courses include Introduction to Pharmacy, Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry, Dosage Form Science, Basic Dispensing Techniques, Biochemistry, Anatomy or Physiology and Microbiology.
Second year courses include Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Dosage Form Science, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacy Practice I, Pharmacy Law, Pharmacology and Therapeutics I and II, Pharmacognosy I and Pharmaceutical Research Methods and Techniques.
Third year courses include Pharmacy II, Pharmacology and Therapeutics III and IV, Pharmacognosy II and Pharmacy Clerkship and Project I and II.
You can study postgraduate programs in this pharmacy school in China. The MPhil program on pharmacy in this university is degree program based on research and the program ends when you submit a thesis. Regular seminars related to researches are held throughout the two-year MPhil curriculum. Each candidate has to present two research seminars each year.
The thesis that you submit must contain report of your independent research done by you in the areas of interest, which are directly relevant to the practice and science of Pharmacy. The areas under Pharmacy Practice are Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacoeconomics. The areas under Pharmaceutical Sciences are Pharmacogenetics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutics including Pharmaceutical Technology, Biopharmaceutics and Physical Pharmacy.
PhD progarmmes were introduced in the year 1998. Since the introduction above 30 research postgraduate students has completed their graduation successfully from the School of Pharmacy in China.
